School Curriculum

Our school’s policy is to provide a broad, balanced education which is delivered through a knowledge and skills based creative curriculum, ensuring that equal opportunities are given to all children. We follow the programmes of study as laid down in the National Curriculum.

At Tennyson Road we use Jolly Phonics to introduce the letter sounds and then use activities based about the letters and sounds document.  For reading we use a mix of schemes including, Oxford Reading Tree, All Aboard, Project X, Collins Big Cats to name a few.

Football Club

14.4.13 £ 150/£175 per month + support

Increased physical activity for members.
Building team spirit and increased self-esteem, also as part of reward scheme to increase positive behaviour.
Has allowed school to take part in inter schools competitions with increasing success.

Family Club

£300.00 (total)

Gave an opportunity for families to engage together in enjoyable, physical, organised activities.

A variety of after school sports clubs provide by a qualified coach e.g. Multiskills, basketball,short-tennis, table tennis

7.10. 13 £210.00 per month + support

A large number of children, 20 per half term, have had the opportunity to take part in a number of different sports.
The school has been successful in competition, recently coming 1st, 2nd and 4th in the 2014 Key Stage 1 Multiskills

Teaching staff have been inspired also taken a lead in sports coaching such that TRIS teams came 4th and 7th in the
County Gymnastics competition and are now building up to an athletics tournament.

Playground Equipment


Has enabled all children to improve their physical wellbeing and lunchtime staff training has also maximised its impact.

Equipment for Sports Competition, shin pads and long socks.


Has allowed pupils to engage more fully in sporting activities where these protective items were beneficial
